A VILLAGE bank is due to close after a fall in transactions in the last four years.

NatWest has announced that its Portchester branch will close its doors for the final time in March.

They said the decision was made after the bank has seen a 30 per cent drop in visits to its branches across the country since 2010 and transactions in the Portchester branch have dropped by 11 per cent as more and more customers use online and mobile banking.

However, NatWest customers in the village will still be able to access over-the-counter services including withdrawing cash, checking balances and making deposits free of charge through their nearest Post Office.

The bank has also lifted restrictions on all of their basic bank account holders so they can use any Link ATM cash machine.
