A HAMPSHIRE airport offers the best service to passengers in the country, according to an official survey.
Southampton Airport has beaten competition from airports across the UK, including major facilities like Heathrow and Gatwick in London, to top the ratings.
The Airport Service Quality survey is a global programme which measures passenger satisfaction while they are at an airport.
It takes place at airports that serve more than half the world’s 6.6 billion annual passengers.
The airport, in Eastleigh, scored highly for 2014 in overall satisfaction from both leisure and business passengers as well as in categories like waiting time at security and courtesy and helpfulness of staff – in particular those at check-in and security.
Other areas where the airport proved a winner with customers were walking distance inside the terminal, Wi-Fi services, business lounges and the comfort of waiting areas.
