A WINCHESTER brewery has doubled itsf output in just one afternoon.

Red Cat Brewing, based in Winnall, now has a new fermentation vessel allowing the beer-makers to drastically increase production.

The new tank, which was delivered to the Sun Valley Business Park site on July 31, holds roughly 5,700 pints - nearly 2,600 more than the previous one.

Company owners have said they've demand expand to such a point they've been unable to keep up.

Brewer and proprietor Andy Mansell said: “We are pleased with the feedback on our products and look forward to introducing more exciting beers as 'one offs' or specials fairly soon. We are also very pleased to be sending beer up to the Great British Beer Festival in London this year.”

Larger batch sizes also means they can extend their range of bottled beers.

They will soon be on sale at the site's small bar and shop, which is open from 4-7pm in the week and from 11am-2pm on Saturdays.
