ABP Southampton is celebrating after scooping the prestigious Freight Industry Times’ Commercial Port Award.

The port was named a winner at the inaugural Freight Industry Times Supply Chain Champion Awards, held at the National Conference Centre in Solihull earlier, this month (April 14).

The awards were set up to recognise excellence in the supply chain logistics sector, with emphasis on the essential role played by the industry in delivering end-to-end logistics solutions.

The port’s commercial manager, Ian Palacio, attended the event and was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the port team.

He said: “ABP Southampton prides itself on delivering excellence when it comes to supply chain logistics. We continually provide effective solutions for our customers and have built a reputation for first class service.

“To have this recognised by the FIT award judges and celebrated by our peers at the inaugural awards is a real honour and we are thrilled to accept the award.”

One of the judges, Nigel Kirkwood, technical Ddirector of Tachnograph Analysis Consultants Limited, said: “It’s a privilege to see what people are doing in the industry and so I’m very honoured to be able to have a part in this. Well done to all the winners and the nominees.”
