TWO men have been found guilty of taking part in a drug fuelled shooting in Southampton.

Judge Derwin Hope remanded Calvin Lawrence, 26, and Malachi Francis, 27, in custody for a pre-sentence report to help determine the level of their dangerousness in the community.

The pair will now spend Christmas and New Year in custody before being given their sentences for the crime, which happened in February this year.

Jurors took more than 10 hours before find the pair, both from London, responsible for the late night shooting in the Townhill Park area of the city when a man was blasted in the leg.

Suraj Singh Bhakar was injured after he had been driven to Vanguard Road.

While the friend, Asif Khan, remained in the car, he went to a nearby flat.

Minutes later, Mr Khan heard two loud bangs and saw Mr Bhakar running from the scene bleeding heavily.

Mr Khan then drove to Cobden Avenue, Bitterne Park, where Mr Bhakar made a 999 call to the ambulance service.

An off-duty nurse shopping nearby tended him until paramedics arrived and took him to the General Hospital where he underwent surgery for four leg wounds.

The prosecution said the shooting had been premeditated, designed not to kill but cause serious harm.

Lawrence and Francis denied wounding with intent and possessing a handgun with intent to cause fear of violence.
