Officers have now carried out a leaflet drop in an attempt to trace the vehicle owners and advise drivers to keep a close eye on parked cars and check tyres for defects before setting off on journeys.

Police have also stepped up patrols in the area in attempt to find out who was responsible for the damage which was carried out sometime between 8.45pm and 9.30pm.

Officers confirmed some kind of “sharp instrument” was used to carry out the attacks.

A police spokesman said: “People should check their tyres thoroughly before driving off to make sure they are not damaged. Other cars may have been damaged that we are not aware of.”

what an absolute idiot chunky_lover is.
i live in this area, and it's perfectly fine.
it isn't a council estate, it's a normal housing estate
the cars mentioned are pretty standard cars for any neighbourhood.
it's just a shame that because cavendish close is a quiet road, these thugs think they can get away with slashing tyres.
every area has it's bad eggs - let's just hope the car owners get some justice!

this probably gets reported as one crime in the same way as if one burglar breaks into several flats in the same building it's one crime, no wonder the crime figures look so wonderful

Legitimate question as a tax payer, either you're a copper or don't pay your council tax.
