A police hunt has been launched after a woman was the victim of a sex attack in Hampshire.

Police are investigating after a 23-year-old woman was indecently assaulted on South Street in Havant.

The victim was followed by an unknown man before she was attacked.

The incident happened on January 16 at 3.45pm but details were only released today.

She was indecently assaulted by the man who made inappropriate gestures and comments. The woman used her mobile phone to call someone and walked away.

The man is described as:

• Tanned.

• Possibily Middle Eastern.

• In his late twenties.

• Medium build, approximatley 5 ft 6 ins tall.

• He has a round oval shaped face with no noticable facial hair.

• During the incident he was wearing a light grey hooded jumper with the hood up.

• He spoke with an accent.

Kerri O’Connell who is investigating said: “There were a number of people in the area near Lloyds Bank on West Street at the time of this assault.

"The man was reported to have followed the victim from this area. If you remember seeing anyone matching the description, please contact us.

“This is a rare incident to happen in Havant, however we would like to remind members of the public to be aware of your surroundings and to if possible avoid any dark and secluded areas.”
