SOUTHAMPTON is the 18th most visited destination for overseas tourists to the UK, according to latest figures.
The city hosted 221,000 visits by foreign residents involving a stay of at least one night in 2013, statistics highlighted by VisitBritain showed.
London was top with 16.7million, second was Edinburgh, with 1.3million, followed by Manchester (988,000), Birmingham (941,000) and Liverpool (562,000).
Oxford, Bristol, Brighton and Bath all rated above Southampton, but south coast rivals Portsmouth and Bournemouth failed to make the top 20.
