A MAN was left with cuts to his head and arm after having a bottle of wine smashed over him during a vicious attack in Southampton.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the attack on the 28-year-old victim which lefty him needing hospital treatment.

The incident happened at some time between 8.10pm and 8.20pm on Sunday when the victim had left Sainsbury’s Local Store on Hill Lane, when he was punched and kicked before having a bottle of wine smashed on him.

The attacker was described as white, aged in his 20s with short blond hair, of stocky build and wearing a blue t-shirt and black shorts.

Detective Constable Simon Murray, said: “We believe this was an isolated incident and are appealing for anyone who has any information to come forward. Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Did you see or hear what happened? If you have any information that could help the inquiry, please get in touch.”
