There are just hours left until music-lovers find out which acts will grace the stage at a Southampton festival.

Thousands of people packed out The Common earlier this year for the 1980s extravaganza Let’s Rock, which featured the likes of Banarama, Howard Jones, Go West and Billy Ocean, pictured above.

And after organisers hailed the event a success, the festival will return next year and the full line-up will be revealed tomorrow.

Organiser Matt Smith, who has helped put together a series of 1980s-themed festival events across the country, told the Echo it was an easy decision to return to Southampton next year after the success of this year’s event, with more than 12,000 party-goers attending.

This year even more people are set to enjoy the event, which has seen its capacity increased.

There will also be a number of new additions around the festival site, with a Let’s Rock playpen featuring face-painting, crafts, a disco shack and circus workshops with the Bigtopmania Circus.

Some familiar faces from the 1980s will also be on hand to help with proceedings throughout the festival, which will take place on July 11.

Television presenters Pat Sharp and Dave Benson Phillips, Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers and the Let’s Rock mega mix karaoke will keep the crowds entertained in between the acts.

Earlybird tickets go on sale tomorrow, while general tickets will go on sale from November 1.
