Firefighters have tackled a bin ablaze behind a charity shop.
They were called to the back of the DEBRA shop in Wells Place, Eastleigh, where one of two commercial bins which was full of discarded items was alight.
It was spotted by someone whose property overlooks the bins. Police are treating the incident as criminal damage.
Manager Gary Birkbeck said there was no damage to the building or stock, but the bin lid was melted and the bin blackened.
He added that it was fortunate that the bins, which are normally against the back of the building, were far away from it, limiting the damage.
A crew from Eastleigh attended after the alarm was raised at 4.50pm on Sunday. Witnesses can call Eastleigh Police on 101.
