A CANCER sufferer who was at the centre of an international search after being taken from a Southampton hospital is showing “incredible” signs of recovery, doctors say.

Five-year-old Hampshire boy Ashya King ate out at a restaurant for the first time in five weeks since he arrived at Prague for medical treatment.

The Southsea resident’s parents sparked a huge search operation when they took him from Southampton General Hospital on August 28, with the family later being found in Spain.

He has since travelled to the Czech Republic with father Brett and mum Naghmeh, for proton therapy.

His parents were reported to be ecstatic following news that he has no more tumours.

A doctor at Prague’s Proton Therapy Centre said that Ashya’s health is much improved and he is showing great signs of progress.

He is due to have the last five of his 30 therapy sessions this week and will be discharged on Friday.

The couple were jailed after taking him from the hospital but freed after a public outcry, and the NHS agreed to fund the £70,000 treatment on his brain tumour.
