A DOG-walker was kicked in the stomach and robbed by a gang of thugs.

The victim, a 21-year-old man from Southampton was walking with his dog along St James's Road in Shirley when the attack happened.

The ordeal only ended when a passer-by came to his aid.

The victim told police how he was robbed by a group of approximately seven men outside of Christadelphian Hall on the junction of St James' Road with Hanley Road.

The group of men, some of whom were on bicycles, surrounded and threatened the victim who was then kicked in the stomach.

One of the group went through the victim's pockets taking £200 in cash and his HTC mobile phone. The group then ran off when a passer-by intervened.

The victim was winded by the kick to the stomach, but was otherwise uninjured.

One suspect was described as black, aged in his mid 20s, 6ft of medium build and wearing dark jogging trousers. He also had a teardrop tattoo underneath his right eye.

A second suspect was white, aged in his late teens to early 20s,6 ft 2 ins, of stocky build with dens curly ginger hair and a chinstrap beard that got thicker by his chin. He was wearing a parka-style jacket with a furry hood.

The robbery happened near to a road and caused motorists to stop in a built-up area.
