Man charged with rape and attempted robbery of teenager
A MAN has been charged by detectives investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault on a teenager.
Shumel Anamul Ahmed, 21, of Portswood Road, Southampton has been charged with rape and attempted robbery.
This comes after police were called to Portswood Road, Southampton, by a member of the public who had come across a woman who reported that an unknown man had sexually assaulted her as she walked home.
An 18-year-old man who went to the woman's aid was assaulted by the unknown man who demanded that he hand over his money and his phone.
No property was handed over during the incident, in the early hours of Thursday .
Ahmed will appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court today.
