AN ENGLAND international footballer has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Sunderland midfielder Adam Johnson is in police custody after officers from Durham Police arrested him earlier today on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16.
Sunderland FC said the player has been suspended while police investigations take place.
The 27-year-old winger, who was born in Sunderland, has also played for Middlesbrough and Manchester City, while he has 12 caps for his country and two goals.
