BLUR have been revealed as headliners for this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The popular band will headline the Saturday night of the festival, which runs from June 11 to June 14.

They will be joining the likes of Fleetwood Mac, The Prodigy, Pharrell Williams and Paulo Nutini. The news comes after the band will release their new album The Magic Whip in April.

The band shot to fame in the 90's when they achieved chart success with songs like Parklife, Country house, Girls and Boys and Song 2.

Blur bassist Alex James, said: “The British summer is just not complete without a trip to a festival. We've never played Isle of Wight before so we're really looking forward to this one. And we get to take our tour bus on a boat.”

Isle of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings was delighted to announce Blur as the Saturday headline act.

Mr Giddings, said: “I'm a huge fan of blur and have always wanted to bring them to the Isle of Wight Festival so I'm really pleased we've finally done it!.

“I know they're going to blow the crowd away on the Saturday night - see you down the front!”
