A MAN suffered a fractured jaw as a group of thugs threw bottles and threatened members of the public in one of Southampton's main nightlife areas.

A group of four men committed various public order offences during half an hour of mayhem in Bedford Place and London Road between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on March 22.

One of the gang removed his belt and waved it around.

The group were walking along Bedford Place when they assaulted a 20-year-old man by punching him in the face, resulting in a fractured jaw.

An 18-year-old man from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of affray. He was bailed until May 20 pending further police enquiries.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of Bedford Place and London Road on the afternoon and evening of Sunday, March 22, and who may have seen this group of men.
