NINE million viewers will this Saturday tune in to see whether it will be will.i.am, Rita Ora, Sir Tom Jones or Ricky Wilson’s act who is crowned The Voice 2015.

But there will be few viewers who will be as excited as hundreds of disabled, seriously and terminally ill children here in Southampton.

That’s because in just six weeks singing sensations from the hit show will come to the city to perform at an exclusive charity concert.

And unlike at most venues where disabled tickets are difficult to come by, and often have restricted views, these children will be in the front row.

Former winner, Andrea Begley, pictured left, and finalist, Jamie Johnson are among the line-up of the hit BBC show to take part in The Voice Charity Concert at the 900-seat capacity Central Hall Southampton.

Tickets are now on sale for the event on Saturday, May 16 which is open to anyone, but in aid of Southampton charity U Support which ensures thousands of children and young people with disabilities and serious illnesses living in Hampshire can attend major events such as music concerts, sporting events and the theatre throughout the year.

The charity has already handed out free tickets to children and their carers from Piam Brown ward at Southampton General Hospital, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Rose Road Association, Naomi House and Cedar School for the live music event.

Adam Gregory, CEO of the charity, said: “The whole of the ground floor will be dedicated to the children and their carers.

“For disabled children, being able to see their musical idols perform is truly a life changing experience yet attending a concert is often beyond their financial and physical means.

“We’ve witnessed the incredible difference music can make to these children. We all know how uplifting a song can be or how the lyrics can touch our hearts so imagine how this can affect these children. Eyes are the gateway to the soul and you only have to look at these children to see how much it means to them.

“When you see a young boy with severe disability move his arm to say thank you or a girl with cancer openly weep as she meets her musical idol, we are all the more determined to ensure more and more children get to fulfil this dream and that we give disabled children a voice.”

Tickets cost £15 and are available from ticketsouth.co.uk or calling 023 8071 1818.
