A MAN passed away at an Eastleigh care home while his wife sat feeding him ice cream.
An inquest heard how Norman Shand was resident at Fleming House in Heron Square where he had been since October 2014 due to dementia.
His wife, who was not named during the hearing, sat feeding the 88-year-old dessert when he stopped breathing and died on April 23.
The hearing was told Mr Shand had been subject to a deprivation of liberty safeguard after it was felt his safety would be more easily managed as a result.
Senior coroner for central Hampshire, Grahame Short recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
