A HAMPSHIRE pensioner died after fracturing her hip trying to get out of her care home bed, an inquest heard.
Elsie Mills, 96, a retired shop assistant, felt dizzy and fell to the floor after trying to get out of bed at the Old Parsonage Nursing Home in Otterbourne, near Winchester.
Doctors at Royal Hampshire County Hospital suggested palliative care as it emerged Mrs Mills might die during surgery, Winchester Coroner's Court was told on Thursday.
She died comfortably in her sleep on March 31, the inquest heard. Senior central Hampshire coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of accidental death.
