IT was the biggest day of their lives – so you could understand they might feel a flutter of last minute wedding nerves.

But an adventurous Southampton couple had more reasons than most to have their hearts in their mouths.

Martyn Milner and Colette Gregory took their relationship to giddy new heights when they married 40 feet above the ground.

The beautifulbride and groom wanted a wedding with a difference and decided to exchange vows amid the treetops at Go Ape in Aberfoyle near Stirling.

The bride had to wear a gown specially tailored to accommodate a safety harness as she made her way along the wooden aisle to meet her groom.

Thirty guests – including their 19-month-old daughter Alice – watched the spectacle from below. on Tuesday. Several joined the wedding party as they tackled zipwires while wearing their finery before heading back down to earth for a champagne toast.

Martyn, 37, said: "We’ve been to a lot of weddings and have always said that when it came to our own big day we wanted to do something totally different.

‘’Colette and I love the outdoors and both have a great sense of adventure, so when we thought about Go Ape, we instantly knew it would be the perfect place, especially Go Ape Aberfoyle with its dramatic backdrop."

‘’We weren’t sure if we’d able to make it happen, so we’re so glad we could as it’s been the most amazing day. ‘’

Colette, 29, said: "We feel incredibly lucky that we’ve been able to realise our dream. We’re so pleased we decided to break the mould and do something totally unique. We will never forget it and I’m pretty sure our family and friends won’t either."

Tristam Mayhew, from Go Ape, said: ‘’We’re delighted to host our first treetop wedding and to help Martyn and Colette have a day to remember.

‘’We wish them all the best as a married couple and hope they’ll share many more exciting adventures together.’’
