FLAMES could be seen across Hampshire when a summer house went up in flames after a power cable snapped.
Fire fighters were called to Wickham Road in Fareham after reports of a fire at Dean Farm Cottages which could be seen across town last night.
Two appliances from Fareham fire station were sent to the scene but the electricity board was there shutting down the power before the fire service arrived.
Watch manager Kim Stone said a power cable between two pylons had snapped setting fire to a tree with the flames spreading to the summer house at the bottom of the garden at about 1am.
No one was injured in the incident.
Mr Stone said: “Apparently it was quite an impressive sight, you could see from half a mile away.”
