MOTORISTS are being warned to expect disruption when a road improvement scheme starts in the centre of Hythe on Monday.
The scheme includes cycle parking facilities, information screens and improved pedestrian links from St John's Street car park to the pier and the bus stop.
A one-way system between Jones Lane and St John's Street will operate while the work is being carried out.
Cllr Sean Woodward, the county council's executive member for economy, transport and environment, said: "The scheme will improve accessibility and make it safer for pedestrians, especially the mobility impaired.
"While it is accepted there will be some short-term disruption during the works this will be outweighed by the benefits to the community."
