PEOPLE in Southampton are being asked to list the council services they believe are most important ahead of the next budget.

Cash-strapped civic chiefs, who face meeting a £90m gap in the city's finances over the next four years, are currently preparing their budget proposals for 2016/17.

And residents are being asked to play a role in "shaping the priorities" the council focuses on in the next few years, with some services certain to face cutbacks.

The online questionnaire features questions on what services residents believe to be most important, what outcomes the council should achieve and what single thing should be focused on over the next five years.

More than 2,600 people took part in the last similar survey back in 2013.

Council leader Simon Letts said:“This is another great opportunity for our city’s residents and stakeholders to play an important and active role in shaping which priorities we will focus on over the next few years.

"Take a few minutes to complete our priorities questionnaire online or at one of our public venues today and your response will help to influence a refresh of the council strategy and which services we will deliver and how.”

The questionnaire can be found online at http://www.southampton.gov.uk/council-democracy/have-your-say/council-priorities-15-16.aspx and in paper form at libraries, housing offices and Gateway in Guildhall Square.
