AN ACOUSTIC music event held in a historic underground venue has been hailed a success by organisers, Oxfam.

The Oxfam Music Shop in Above Bar, Southampton staged the free folk show in the Lancaster Vaults.

Although admission was free, donations were accepted on the day and the charity raised £206.17.

“It went really well. I think wWe brought in a lot of families who were curious to see what was going on,” said Rob Milner of Oxfam Music.

Among the acts playing were Paper Trains, the Fogeys, Everyday Avatar (pictured), Steve Lois and Accrington Stanley front man Dan O’Farrell.

“It was nicely capped off with some of our volunteers DJ-ing at Psychedelia at Lennon’s. They kindly offered free entry with any musical stock donated and our Calum, resident music blogger got the chance to DJ at one of his favourite venues,” added Rob.
