A RUGBY legend has confirmed he will be supporting a Hampshire hospice charity after visiting one of its centres.

Jonah Lomu, famous for his 63 cap career playing for the New Zealand All Blacks and the Rugby World Cups greatest try scorer will be bringing his Unstoppable Tour to Southampton next month.

The tour has seen him travel the UK sharing stories of his life on and off the pitch over dinner to raise money for various causes.

On Wednesday, October 21 he will be hosting an event at The Grand Harbour Hotel to raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo, Jonah visited the newly refurbished hospice based in Sutton Scotney to see children and families who use the facilities.

Mark Smith, Naomi House and Jacksplace’s chief executive, said: “We are thrilled that Jonah has chosen to support Naomi House following his recent visit to our hospices. The time he spent with families at our hospices was incredibly precious. The fact that Jonah has chosen to continue this support will delight our families as much as it does the whole team. Everyone commented on how utterly fascinating Jonah was to talk with, and I’m sure the chance to enjoy dinner with him, and hear his personal and professional revelations, will appeal to anyone.”

Jonah added: “I thought it was an amazing place and a charity with a really nice feel to it. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the children and families and staff.”
