A HUGE lorry has become stuck on a green in a residential area after trying to perform a U-turn.

The yellow lorry with BKP on the side became stuck in Waveney Green, Millbrook, last night at around 9pm.

The area is a small close of houses with a single road surrounding a green.

According to residents, the driver realised they would not be able to go down the road and tried to perform a U-turn.

But as the road was too small, he then had to turn onto the green at which point his back wheels became stuck in the mud.

Mother-of-two Michelle Murtagh, 36, lives in the road and said: “We heard all the commotion and opened the front door to see the lorry.

Daily Echo:

“For about half an hour it was stuck, it had its lights on and the light was coming in everyone's windows because it was a bright orange spinning light.

“He sat in the cab for a while and then I had to go. When I got up in the today I could not see him in the lorry.

The carer added: “The green is were lots of the kids here play and they won’t be able to while the lorry is there.

“And when it is gone they won’t be able to play there because of all the muck.”

A BKP worker who had to rescue the stricken DAF Mega Whale lorry said a crew attended to a blockage in the main sewer and we were carrying out urgent work.

Two workers were doing this last night from 6pm onwards and got blocked in by cars when they attempted to leave.

The worker said the driver did not want to damage any of the cars with the more than two tonne lorry, so went onto the green and became stuck in mud due to heavy rainfall over the last few days.

BKP declined to comment on the stranded lorry.
