MODS came together to help raise cash for a father who suffered a stroke.

Members of the Wimpson Old Boys Scooter Club organised a charity raffle to raise money for one of their members.

Father-of-two Piper Mcstay suffered a stoke 13 weeks ago which caused him and his wife Angie to leave their jobs.

To help the family, Piper’s club mates raised thousands of pounds for him to help with his care.

Paul Prince, vice-president of the club, said: “Piper is the most helpful person we have at the club, if anyone breaks down he is there, anyone needs repairs on their scooter he’s there.”

The 57-year-old added: “Everybody, loves Piper, he is the most fantastic, helpful human being you could hope to meet.”

To help raise money for him the Wimpson Old Boys Scooter Club, known as WOBS, held a raffle in the Saints Pub in Millbrook.

Prizes auctioned off included the signed shirt Matt Le Tissier wore during the Kelvin Davis testimonial match.

The night also saw four live bands play a host of Mod and Ska music.

Clare Knights also volunteered to have her head shaved during the night and raised almost £500.

The club are still counting the total amount they raised, but had so far reached at least £3,700 raised to help Piper and his family.

Mr Prince, a warehouseman from Millbrook, said: “We had a ride out with 100 scooters before we went to the Saints Pub which has supported us and has been fantastic for the club.

“Piper came as well and he walked to the bar which was hard for him to do but he did it.

“It was just a fantastic night and there were a lot of other scooter clubs who turned up on the night to show their support.”
