A MOTHER and daughter have won £50,000 between them in the lottery.

Katrina Walcroft and her mum Sharon, both from Fareham, won £25,000 each in the People's Postcode Lottery, a month after signing up.

Katrina, a chef, said she decided to start playing People’s Postcode Lottery last month and her mum Sharon followed her daughter’s lead a few days later.

Little did they know People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador Jeff Brazier would be coming to Fareham a month later to hand them £25,000 a piece.

Katrina, 22, said: “When Jeff pulled out my cheque and revealed how much I’d won - it was an amazing surprise. It was made much more special when I found out my mum had won the exact same amount.

“Now, I can finally get a house and a mortgage because I’ll have a deposit. It would have taken a long time to save up otherwise.

“I signed up after I heard from my aunty that she had won £50 and a few £10 prizes playing People’s Postcode Lottery and because 30 per cent goes directly to charity I thought I should play because I love charities.

“I told my mum about it and she signed up a few days later but my dad decided he would wait. He’s kicking himself now and he signed up the day we won!”

Sharon, 53, said: “It was a shock when Jeff revealed I had won £25,000. I’ve only been playing for a month, I never expected it. Winning with my daughter is just such an amazing feeling – I am going to frame my cheque."

Kate Cameron, 55, and David Purkiss, 71, were also winners in PO14 4JQ and playing with two tickets, David doubled his win to £50,000.

The People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £129.9million for charities across Great Britain and internationally.
