COLOUR has filled Eastleigh as hundreds of people filled the Leigh Road recreation ground in for the Mela festival 2016.

It is a celebration of diversity and learning about different cultures.

Musicians and dancers are providing entertainment for the town.

This is the 11th year that Eastleigh's Mela festival has run and organisers hope to see more than 20,000 people attend.

Last year saw a great turnout as 18,000 people turned up to celebrate the diversity in the town.

Diligent Joshi chair trustee for AWCA, organisers of the event, said they day has been 'brilliant'.

He said: "Planning this festival takes a long time so it is great to see it all come together.

"We have some great performers this year such as the Military Wives Choir and the 511 crew so we are really happy with that.

ITV news reporter Sangeeta Bhabra said the festival has 'done Eastleigh proud'.

She said: "I did not think I was going to have anywhere near as much fun as I have had today.

"Mela is a great place to connect with different communities!"
