HAMPSHIRE police are investigating after four people were injured after the car they were in hit a tree. 

Three of the casulaties had to be cut free from the wreckage of the car after an accident in Chandler's Ford.

Emergency services were called to the scene after reports that the car, a silver Ford Fiesta had left the road and hit a tree yesterday.

Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to cut the casualties free after the accident on Templar’s Way in Chandler’s Ford.

Fire crews from Eastleigh station were called to the scene at 3.33am along with other emergency services.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 03.35 this morning to reports of a car having left the road and collided with a tree, trapping up to four people in the vehicle.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle, four ambulances, an officer and the enhanced care response unit car to the scene.

"Two patients with serious injuries, one patient with less serious injuries and one patient with minor injuries were all taken to Southampton General."

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident which led to the closure of the road for some time this morning.

The men, two aged 19 and two aged 21, were described as being from the area.

According to Hampshire police three men remained in a serious condition in hospital.
