Police in Southampton raided three addresses yesterday suspected to be connected with modern-day slavery.

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of offences under the sexual offences act.

The quartet were detained on suspicion of keeping or managing a brothel for prostitution and have been bailed until January 13.

One is a 32-year-old woman and the others are men aged 28, 29 and 30 years.

Warrants were executed and searches carried out at addresses in Shirley Road, Golden Grove and The Polygon.

The police say they located a premises used for sexual services and have disrupted its operations.

They are working with partners to ensure anyone who may be at risk is identified and given support and safeguarding.

Detective Inspector Matthew Barcraft-Barnes said today: “We have made a number of arrests as part of this operation and continue to investigate activity at these premises.

“We would encourage anyone who has information which could assist us to come forward.”
