Expect magic, music and monologues during a star-studded 2024 at Thornden Hall in Chandlers Ford.
The theatre, at Thornden School, has revealed some impressive celebrity coups among this year's line-up of shows.
Bosses have secured performances from Martin Fry, the lead singer of 90’s pop band ABC, singer, actor and presenter Aled Jones, and singer-songwriter Johnny Rotten.
He’s a legend and an icon, a revolutionary and an immortal. John Lydon – aka Johnny Rotten – changed the face of music and sparked a cultural revolution.
He will talk about how he sees life, along with his unique and extraordinary career with The Sex Pistols, and take audience questions on May 19.
After 40 years in showbusiness, Aled Jones looks back on a remarkable career with a one-man show, that will feature never-before-heard music, tales from the decades and for the first time, his story told in his own words on September 12.
From Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, ABC was the band that redefined glamour and cool. Led by the charismatic Martin Fry, an intimate evening of stripped-back music and conversation takes place on October 27.
Kerry Ellis of We Will Rock You and Wicked fame will also be opening her tour Queen of the West End at Thornden Hall in September.
In previous years, the stage has welcomed many household names including Paul Young, Lulu, Francis Rossi and Marti Pellow.
Thornden Hall manager Neil Daykin said he is really excited about the busy programme of famous faces set to visit the hall this year.
He told the Daily Echo: "We’ve got a really impressive line-up for 2024 - it’s going to be a great year of theatre for us. I can’t wait to welcome so many talented entertainers to Thornden Hall.
“Keeping the arts alive is incredibly important for the school community. Our programme of performances means we can be a thriving and vibrant hub for schools, local theatre-goers and community groups."
Opened in 2003, the Thornden Hall Arts Centre provides support for Thornden School’s performing arts department.
It is fitted with high-quality acoustics, a stage large enough for a full orchestra and an audience capacity of 386 people. As a multi-purpose venue, it can be adapted for music, dance, drama, conferences, presentations and cinema.
The hall had a complete refurbishment in 2021 to upgrade the infrastructure ready to welcome its audiences back after the pandemic.
