Martin Kemp is set to entertain fans for a special evening of 80s classics when he DJs in Southampton on Saturday night.
The former Spandau Ballet bassist will spin the decks at the Engine Rooms – with the event running from 8pm to 2am.
Supporting the former EastEnders actor on the night is Southampton DJ, Jamie Ryves, with the 53-year-old looking forward what he is anticipating will be a great night.
He told the Echo: “I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully we’ll have plenty of people who come along and have a party.
“Obviously Martin is well-known for his various bits of work throughout the country and it’s brilliant the city has attracted such a big name, as it has done in the past and no doubt will continue to do going forward.”
Hosted at the Engine Rooms in association with Glitterati Promotions, the 80s night headlined by Martin Kemp is one of various events planned throughout the year, with the venue having already played host to Take That’s Howard Donald just two months ago.

Jamie is fulfilling a lifelong dream, having recorded his own music as a teenager when he was employed as a skilled worker at Southampton Docks.
He said: “I’ve been recording my own music since I was about 16 years of age in my bedroom on my own discs and that continued to when I was working down the docks and later, I was able to go around the country to the likes of the New Forest and Bristol performing.
“I even ended up abroad for a couple of years – playing in the likes of Ibiza – so it’s great to have done it all this time and the fact I can now DJ in my home city for such established names is a dream really.”
He added: “I’ve been doing this for the best part of 36 years now, but I still feel young at heart!”
Jamie admitted he’s hopeful for the nightclub scene in Southampton, after Suburbia closed down earlier this year, citing the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis as the two main factors.
“Hopefully someone will be able to open it up again in the summer,” said Jamie.
“The whole industry has come through a tough time but throughout this year and into next year I think it will really take off again.”
