Fareham-based radio station Wave 105 is set to merge into Greatest Hits Radio this spring.

The station includes renowned broadcasters Simon Mayo, who will host the Drivetime slot, and Jackie Brambles, who will take the evening spotlight, as well as radio personality, Ken Bruce.

Current local breakfast show host Rick Jackson will continue to commandeer the morning shows, while Mark Collins holds the fort in mid-afternoons.

Greatest Hits Radio will feature a medley of throwback tunes from iconic musicians of the 70s, 80s, and 90s like Blondie, Queen, George Michael, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Elton John, and Whitney Houston.

Shows from well-known radio hosts like Martin Kemp, Kate Thornton, and Jenny Powell will also be broadcast.

The station seeks to preserve its focus on community engagement, featuring local news and traffic updates.

Focal in the station's commitment is its Cash for Kids charity, which fundraises for disadvantaged young people-- an endeavour the station will continue to support.

As a consequence of the conversion, a limited number of roles are entering a consultation process and freelance contracts will be reassessed.

Bauer Media, the parent company, expressed its full dedication to assisting all personnel affected during the transition.

Listeners can listen to Hits Radio South Coast online, on DAB, or on smart speaker.

Gary Stein, group programme director for the Hits Radio Portfolio said: "Wave 105 is a well-loved and recognised station identity within the South Coast and we want to build on its fantastic success and secure its future by transforming it into a nationally recognised brand, bolstered by a national marketing campaign to ensure it has even more opportunity to grow.

"Unique to our other Greatest Hits Radio stations, it will have its very own Breakfast show hosted by the fantastic Rick Jackson in addition to a mid-afternoon show hosted by Mark Collins, and all the local news and information we know is important to audiences."
