Members of Southampton Sight, a charity for the visually impaired, will swim 125 lengths at The Quays on April 18.

The swim marks 125 years of the charity’s service to those with sight loss in the city.

Swimmers include Tommy McInulty, Trish Clements, Jenny Sharp, Chris Beech, and Steve Boswell, accompanied by Tommy's guide dog, Toby.

The project, which began in July 2023, enhances life for the visually impaired through sports and physical activity.

With financial backing from Energise Me (Sport England), the initiative addresses challenges visually impaired individuals face when navigating swimming facilities.

The group meets weekly on Thursdays and the sponsored swim is their way of paying tribute to Southampton Sight.

One member of the group said: "The swimming group has energised me and I’ve made some good friends.

"I never knew how much joy swimming could bring until I met this group. Every session is the highlight of my week.

"This group has given me the confidence to swim in the 125 length sponsored swim challenge in April."
