Southampton is set to be battered by 60 mile per hour winds today as the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind.
On Sunday, the Met Office issued a yellow wind warning for Hamble, Gosport, Hythe, Beaulieu and Lymington from 1am on Tuesday.
Since issuing their initial warning, the Met Office have now included Southampton within their warning area and brought forward the warning to start on Monday evening.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Strong winds are likely to bring hazardous coastal conditions and could cause some inland disruption.
“It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely and some short-term loss of power and other services is possible.”
The warning is now set to last from 9pm tonight, until 9am on Tuesday morning.
Coastal areas could experience gusts of 40-50mph with some areas even reaching 60mph gusts.
