The sun is shining in the New Forest as a 'mini-heatwave' warms up Hampshire.

An “African plume” of warmer weather pushing northward has led to temperatures above average for this time of year, with the mercury hitting 17 degrees Celsius.

This has led to several national media outlets declaring us to be in the grip of a 'mini-heatwave'.

While some might be sceptical about this, it cast the azaleas at Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway in a beautiful light regardless - and saw people out enjoying the spring sunshine.

Sam Smith and her friend Pauline Prestage were among them, walking Barney the American cocker spaniel at the gardens.
