Yet Southampton City Council are closing Oaklands swimming pool?

Well be at the council meeting in Sept and lobby the council over the closure of the pool.

And the roads are becoming more and more dangerous for cyclists as HCC fails to fund adequate infrastructure.

FMG2, Please be assured that I am not saying this because I have no sympathy with people who use other services, like some closer to you about whom you have mentioned on this site in the past do, I am only trying to illustrate a valid point.

Would you still be justifying cuts on the basis of loss and profits if the cuts in services for disabled and some other vulnerable groups are proposed?

Please do not let your friendship with well placed people in NuLabour and loyalty to a party that has betrayed most of its values on which it was based, cloud your commitment to welfare of the society at large. Because if this ruthless lot gets away with closing Oaklands today it won’t be long before they go after services you may be using.

Only way to force these arrogant members of NuLabour Group from cutting services is to stand united against cuts, Oaklands should be saved as first and most important line of defence against unnecessary cuts.

Oaklands was already in the middle of repairs & the Tories had it in their manifesto that if it had to go in the Lordshill Master Plan a brand new one would be built.
I have put forward ideas on how they could make this facility self financing
by using the gym as a smaller gym & fitness centre plus use the theatre & put in a small cafe/restaurant.
David LLoyds is far too expensive for many locals so this type of facility priced at the right level would attract a lot of customers.
Exactly where have I advocated cuts to services?
When/what services were the tories cutting?

Yeah, but don't talk about an Olympic legacy while shutting down swimming pools. The Olympics legacy is just three weeks of sport with over half of our medalists public school educated. The reality is shut swimming pools, school fields sold off and sports clubs losing their funding.
