POLICE keeping surveillance on a house known for drug activity saw a teenager approaching the building.
He then started to walk away from the property at a faster pace and had to be put to the ground and handcuffed when he began to struggle and tried to swallow something, Southampton Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor Dawn Hyland said 13 wraps of crack cocaine were then found in the youth’s jeans pocket.
Fahad Salaad, 19, of Arygle Road, admitted possession with intent to supply and was jailed for 19 months.
Nicholas Robinson, defending, said that at the age of 16, unable to read or write, Salaad was living on the street and it was no surprise he found himself in the drug world.
“He uses drugs himself and the only advantage he got from it was being given drugs to fund his habit.
“It is a sad case, albeit a serious one.”
