Man found dead in river 'was subject of police investigation'
A MAN whose body was found in Southampton had been arrested before he vanished from his home, the Daily Echo can reveal.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed Barrie Thompson, pictured, had been the subject of a police investigation.
The 51-year-old from Southampton was reported missing on May 14.
His car was found on May 16 outside Woodmill Outdoor Activity Centre, sparking a search of the River Itchen.
His body was found in the water near the activity centre on Sunday, 10 days after he vanished.
Police declined to reveal the reason or date Mr Thompson was arrested.
