A TEENAGER interrupted a burglary at her home and was then punched in the face by the burglar.

The girl came home to Yewside, in Gosport, and heard noises coming from one of the bedrooms as she came upstairs.

As she went to investigate two men came out of the room, punching her in the face and pulling her head down.

They knocked her to the floor and then ran downstairs and out of the house.

The victim was left with bruising to her head and cheek and a possible hairline fracture to her cheekbone and was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The men police want to speak to are described as 17 or older, white and wearing dark hooded tops with hoods up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Detective constable Jamie Fagan, said: “It would appear that this young woman may have interrupted a burglary in her home.

"The offenders acted in a spineless, despicable way, attacking a teenage girl and continuing to assault her when they could have made their escape without causing injury.

“Please remember to keep your homes secure during this hot weather and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.

“I would urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible and help us find the people responsible.”

Anyone with any information on the incident, which happened around 10pm on Monday is asked to contact DC Fagan at Fratton police station by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
