A SCHOOL that burnt down in a suspected arson attack will reopen this autumn at a new site.

The Island Learning Centre is being relocated to the Hunnyhill Primary School in Newport temporarily with ‘everything replaced like for like’, according to Isle of Wight Council leader Jonathan Bacon.

It comes as police have renewed an appeal for information into the blaze on July 17 that destroyed the premises in Lake.

Police were called to the scene to reports of a school minibus on fire, but the flames spread to the school by the time emergency services arrived.

A 16-year-old boy from the Isle of Wight was arrested on Friday, July 17, on suspicion of arson and was bailed until October 16, 2015 pending further enquiries.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 11.30pm on Thursday, July 16 and 12.15am on Friday, July 17 should contact the Eastern Investigation Team on 101 quoting 44150244876 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The council said a consultation on a long-term solution will take place over the coming months.
