A TEENAGE girl forced her way into her grandmothers’ home because she and her boyfriend had nowhere to sleep.
Katie Smith-Myatt and Adam Campbell who are both drug users let themselves into the house in Eastleigh without permission.
Smith-Myatt, 18, of the Polygon, Southampton, and Campbell, 28, of no fixed address, both admitted theft at a hearing at Southampton Crown Court.
Prosecutor Thomas Wilkins told the court how the couple were found in the property after entering with a set of keys they had.
Fiona Ryan, for Smith-Myatt, said her client – previously a promising athlete – was homeless at the time and needed somewhere to sleep because her tent had been stolen.Campbell was said to be dealing with drug issues.
Judge Burrell QC sentenced both to 12 month community orders with drug rehabilitation orders. telling Smith-Myatt: “You’ve got to stay off the drugs or they will kill you in the end.”
