IT is the most heartbreaking moment of any parent’s life.

Losing a young baby or unborn child before ever seeing them grow or flourish.

Now a team of brave men and women have transformed their grief to hope after completing a mammoth cycle ride.

There were emotional scenes as a group of exhausted riders arrived at Lymington Business Centre yesterday at the climax of their 110-mile ride from London.

They raised £2,554 in aid of the Tommy’s charity, which supports vital research into preventing miscarriages.

The charity also highlights the shocking statistic that one in four women will lose a child during pregnancy or birth.

The group set off from Smithfield Market in Farringdon on the trip organised by design agency Playgroup, which has offices in both locations.

Among those taking part was agency creative director Steve Cluett, 46, from Winchester.

He said: “It was really hard at times but when I heard that we had reached out target it made me feel emotional.

“After some very difficult times trying to have children, we eventually had twins, who were born prematurely but are now fit and healthy 11 year-olds.”

The team – made up of people from across the south – included Paul Herbert, Linda Skoda, Tim Moore, Jonathan Turner, Dan Sly and Jason Duggan.
