Mauricio Pochettino has not ruled out adding to his squad on transfer deadline day.

The new Saints boss has seen his team in action twice since taking over and had a close look at the players at his disposal on their trip to Spain.

Although it is clear that Saints are not going to be bringing in numerous new signings – to go with the one they have made, defender Vegard Forren – Pochettino refused to rule out the possibility of a player joining today.

But insisted the club hadn’t made any final decisions either way.

“Tomorrow we will make our final decisions,” he said last night after the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

“We are still deciding and making our final decisions.

“At this moment I can’t say what’s going to happen.”

The transfer window closes at 11pm tonight and after that Saints will have to go with what they have got for the remainder of the campaign with no loan window open, unlike in the Football League.

Pochettino, below, has already said he would be happy to continue with what he has got.

He will be staying with the team in the north west as they rest up ahead of the game at Wigan at the weekend.

But the Saints staff will be back at St Mary’s ready to spring into action if chairman Nicola Cortese and Pochettino decide to move for players.

It may well be that they are eyeing a couple but, as always with deadline day, their availability and affordability may hinge on moves by other clubs that so often spark a domino effect.

There has also been speculation linking some of the Saints fringe players with moves away from St Mary’s.

But the club are unlikely to want to let too many leave – especially if no new faces arrive by the time the window slams shut.
