Mauricio Pochettino admitted his frustration as Wigan scored a late equaliser to deny Saints a deserved victory at the DW Stadium.

Shaun Maloney’s late leveller meant the game ended 2-2 and ensured the wait for Pochettino’s first win as Saints boss extends another week.

“I am frustrated the same as the rest of the boys because the team played a great match,” he reflected.

“The effort that the team put into it they deserved the victory.

“We could have had two victories and one draw (since Pochettino took charge).

“Work is what we’ve got to do.

“We will work on things during the week and in the future we have to work on set pieces.”
