Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Saints are good enough to stay in the Premier League this season.

The new boss, left, saw his team concede a 90th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 at relegation rivals Wigan on Saturday in a game that Saints dominated and should have won.

Pochettino is still searching for his first win as Saints manager after two draws and a loss in his three matches.

Though their recent form has seen just three defeats in their last ten games in all competitions, Saints have also won only once in that time.

“It’s far too early to start talking about these problems and we will carry on playing this way and we will see later,” he said of any relegation threat.

“This team is good enough for this league.”

Pochettino did admit his frustration at not getting the win at Wigan as Saints conceded two goals from corners.

“I am frustrated the same as the rest of the boys because the team played a great match,” he reflected.

“The effort that the team put into it they deserved the victory.

“We could have had two victories and one draw (since he took charge).

“Work is what we’ve got to do.

“We will work on things during the week and in the future we have to work on set pieces.
