Schneiderlin: My debt to Pardew

Morgan Schneiderlin has admitted his debt of gratitude to former boss Alan Pardew after agreeing terms on a new four-year contract.

The French midfielder, who has been in superb form for Saints since their return to the Premier League, revealed it was Pardew who added the defensive skills to his natural passing game that has made him the player he is today.

Schneiderlin who this week penned a deal to keep him at St Mary’s until 2017, was once nicknamed ‘ZZ’ by former coach Dean Wilkins, who likened the midfielder’s talents to those of French legend Zinedine Zidane.

Now, though, Schneiderlin has adapted his game, making him one of the most under-rated players in the top flight – and thanks Pardew for doing that.

“He was the one saying to me to improve on my defensive skills,” he said.

“He was the one who was telling me ‘come on, you need more tackling.’ “So, thanks go to him and his words every day saying that to me.”

We don't actually need to be told about NAs influence, we already know and appreciate what he did for the Club, it goes without saying. This article is about Spiders early days, he was already here when AP took over as Manager, and got to be a better player during his era.

Our Nige does appear to have disappeared off the planet. I would imagine that is all part of the deal. He will have the pick of any C/ship club when he is ready. Probably the likes of dirty Leeds. He will always be welcomed back to St Marys. But back to Spider. The person he has most to thank is himself. It takes a great deal of hard work and dedication to make it in the EPL He's had an outstanding season and hopefully will have many more with the Mighty Saints.

Apparently our Nige was offered the Poopey job. He told them that he had been successful everywhere he'd been and didn't want to ruin his reputation on a lost cause. and anyway he didn't like shopping at LIDL.

The man is just that a man..everyone faces adversity it is how they hanle it that matters and MS just got on with it....deserves all the plaudits and respect..

Like pmuff all the whingers in life blame evryone but themselves...we are nearly all the products of the choices we make and the determination we show..

...professionally this guy is an example of all that is a good example in some very rare and inspiring people.

Pards did not buy Spider, Lowe did, he arrived on 27/06/08. Pardew didn't arrive until 17/07/09.

The Echo is a little bit in love with Pardew it would seem, based on the number of pro-AP articles its reporters have produced lately. I can only assume it's because he'll talk to them when others won't. Perhaps they need to work harder developing better contacts with those in the know at Saints, then we might get some interesting stories.
Still, nice to know Schneiderlin appreciates Pardew's input earlier in his career. He seems like a really nice guy and a good ambassador for the Saints. Surely can't be too long before he gets a deserved international call-up.

I don't think the Echo is "in love" with Pardew. I think it's just that the Echo got to speak to Pards and Spidey on Sunday and they're making stories from those interviews last several days.

In an age of austerity you have to admire this.

Pards did not buy Spider, Lowe did, he arrived on 27/06/08. Pardew didn't arrive until 17/07/09.

Off topic, all Saints fans should whatch RL's first 100 goals.
Take away the penalties which are all right footed, then the headers, and I would say that his remaining goal tally was very enenly distributed between those scored with each foot.
What better example can there be of a two footed striker than our Rickie.
Woy Hogson should be sent the DVD for some bed-time viewing
