Future Winchester City co-managers Danny Robinson and Tim Cole will bring their passing football philosophy to the Denplan City Ground when they move from Alresford at the end of the season.

As reported in yesterday’s Daily Echo the management duo will be leaving Arlesbury Park after six years at the helm, after agreeing a return to the Citizens set-up with director of football Dave Malone.

Robinson and Cole, who led the Magpies to a cup triple last season, turned the fortunes of Alresford around from a relegation outfit to a side vying for the Sydenhams Premier Division title.

The Wessex League Cup, Hampshire Senior Cup and North Hampshire Senior Cup holders are currently five points clear at the summit of the Wessex, though Sholing have four games in hand.

While the pair are still fully focussed on leading the Magpies to another huge trophy haul, with finals of the Wessex League Cup, Aldershot Senior Cup and the North Hampshire Senior Cup coming up, Robinson has vowed to bring their attractive style to Winchester.

“When we move to Winchester our philosophy won’t change at all, we want to play attractive, exciting football,” he said.

“But what we’ve got to concentrate on is Alresford right now. The move to Winchester has to wait because at the moment we are trying to win more cup competitions.

“As soon as that last cup final is finished Tim and I will have a break, then start our work at Winchester.”

Many Magpies fans will be concerned about future of their stars, including 54-goal top-scorer Warren Bentley, pictured left, ahead the departure of their management team.

On that subject Robinson said: “Players do what they want to do, we’re not moving to Winchester to hurt Alresford and take anything away from the club, but players will do want they want.

“The players are out of it at the moment. They’re all fully focussed on Alresford and the job they have to do there.

“We’ve created a nucleus of players here who like playing together and we’ve built that philosophy over a long time and we won’t want to damage that.”

The pair were once at Winchester working under Andy Leader and will return when Neil Hards and Paul Masters depart at the end of the current campaign.

They will leave Alresford a club transformed after turning them from strugglers into cup winners and league title chasers and Robinson paid tribute to that.

“We’ve had six terrific years, Tim arrived four months before I did, and back then we had a team that should have been relegated,” he said.

“But we turned things around, I’m very proud of what Tim and I have achieved here.”
